About Bourton

Bourton is Tricker's iconic men’s country shoe. These shoes are a piece of Northampton shoemaking history, and yet today they are the go-to shoe for men all around the world. The Bourton is unmistakable - a heavy Derby shoe that bears the brogue detailing synonymous with true country shoes. A half bellows tongue is folded and attached to the shoe to provide a watertight seal, and the storm welt provides an additional waterproof seal between the shoe's upper and sole.

Colour Information

A pair of Tricker's in black are undoubtedly the ultimate workhorse - suitable for work, evenings out, or weekend wear. Keep the black well maintained with polish and/or cream and they will just keep going and going ageing beautifully with every wear.

Built to Last

As with all of Tricker's shoes and boots, each pair of Bourton shoes are handmade within Northampton factory in England by craftsmen and women using traditional methods, and to the same exacting standards that first established our reputation. There are 260 processes used to make each pair from start to finish.

Uncompromising standards of craftsmanship and use of honest materials, are values that have been preserved and developed through five generations and are observed as resolutely today as they were in 1829. When you choose Tricker’s, you never have to choose between practicality, durability and style.

Tricker’s shoes are worn by H.R.H. The Prince of Wales.

THE LAST

The last is a hard, three-dimensional form on which the shoe is constructed. Depending on the style of shoe we use different lasts, this is what dictates the overall shape, proportion, fit and character of the shoe. Many of our lasts have heritage, we've been using them for decades. The original moulds are made from wood and shaped by hand, there are then graded into the different sizes and tested rigorously to ensure the fit is consistent across the full breadth of sizes.

Our lasts will generally fit your regular size, although some vary so the information below should guide you. If you are still unsure contact us and one of our experts will be able to help.

LAST No: 4444

These are a generous fit and therefore typically larger by half a size. So, if you normally take a UK size 8, we recommend you try a size 7½.

4444

This last has been in existence for decades, and its sizes are therefore non-standard - this is part of our history and character as England's oldest shoe manufacturer. The size (length fitting) of Tricker’s footwear made on this last is larger than a regular UK size by half a size. If you are unsure of your UK size, use the conversion chart below to convert your known size to a UK size. Then take off half a size. So if you normally take a UK size 8 (equivalent to US size 9, Japan size 27 and EU size 42), we recommend you order a size 7½; if you normally take a UK size 11½, we recommend you order a size 11; and so on.
